Out of all the majors we analyze each year, dance was ranked #161 in the country. In fact 3,288 degrees and certificates were handed out in 2020-2021.
Today's students have lots of options to pick from when considering higher education opportunities. With more and more schools offering online options, you could even register for a great program on the other side of the country. On top of that, there are a considerable number of trade schools that offer fast-track entry to many fields.
To help you arm yourself with the information you need to make your decision, Course Advisor has developed this Best Value Dance Schools in the Southwest Region ranking. Our analysis looked at 24 schools in the Southwest Region to see which programs offered the best value experiences for dance students with the aim of identifying those quality schools that are more affordable than some of their counterparts.
When determining this ranking, we place a high emphasis on the school's quality as well as its sticker price. Even though a college may be affordable, it may not offer value. Specifically, our score for quality is discounted by the published tuition and fees charged by the given college. This gives the cost per unit of quality for each college. The more quality your dollar buys, the better the value.
Our calculations use out-of-state tuition and fees in our nationwide and regional rankings. For statewide rankings, we use average in-state tuition and fees.
Top 10 Best Dance Schools
Our 2023 rankings named Scottsdale Community College the best value school in the Southwest Region for dance students. Located in the rural area of Scottsdale, Scottsdale Community College is a public college with a medium-sized student population.
Out-of-state tuition fees for undergraduate students at Scottsdale Community College are $7,854 per year.
In addition to its great value ranking, Scottsdale Community College is in the top 20% of all schools on our Best Dance Schools in the Southwest Region list.

A rank of #2 on this year’s list means West Texas A&M University is a great value for dance students. West Texas A&M University is a medium-sized public school located in the fringe town of Canyon.
The average tuition and fees for an out-of-state undergraduate student at West Texas A&M University are $11,208 a year.

The school came in at #3 on this year’s Best Value Dance Schools in the Southwest Region list. Located in the large city of Austin, Austin Community College District is a public school with a fairly large student population.
The average tuition and fees for an out-of-state undergraduate student at Austin Community College District are $10,590 a year.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Texas Woman’s University. It ranked #4 on our 2023 Best Value Dance Schools in the Southwest Region list. Located in the midsize city of Denton, TWU is a public college with a fairly large student population.
Out-of-state tuition fees for undergraduate students at TWU are $18,186 per year. While working on their degree, dance majors at TWU accumulate an average of around $21,500 in student debt.

Located in the small city of San Marcos, Texas State is a public school with a very large student population.

On average, dance graduates from Texas State take out $22,417 in student loans while working on their degree.
