This report analyzed 151 schools in the United States to see which ones were the most popular doctor's degree programs for students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from the Mechanical Engineering program at each school on the list.

Our 2023 rankings named Purdue University - Main Campus the most popular school in the United States for mechanical engineering students working on their doctor’s degree. Located in the small city of West Lafayette, Purdue is a public college with a fairly large student population.

Of the 69 students majoring in ME at Purdue, 84% are male and 16% are female.

The in-demand doctor’s degree programs at Georgia Institute of Technology - Main Campus helped the school earn the #2 place on this year’s ranking of the most popular mechanical engineering schools in the United States. Georgia Tech is a fairly large public school located in the city of Atlanta.
