This report analyzed 36 schools in New Jersey to see which ones were the most popular bachelor's degree programs for students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from each school on the list.

Our 2023 rankings named Rutgers University - New Brunswick the most popular school in New Jersey for students working on their bachelor’s degree. Located in New Brunswick, New Jersey, the large public school awarded 8,803 diplomas to qualifed bachelor’s degree students in 2020-2021.
Full-time students from New Jersey pay an average of $15,804 in tuition and fees if they choose to attend Rutgers New Brunswick. Out-of-state students pay an average of $33,005. By the time they get their bachelor’s degree, students from this school have racked up an average of $24,259 in student loans. Around 51% of those degree recipients were women.
Rutgers New Brunswick does have options available for those who want to take online classes. You will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your specific major. During the 2019-2020 year, about 37% of the undergraduates at the school took at least one online course.
The excellent bachelor’s degree programs at Rowan University helped the school earn the #2 place on this year’s ranking of the most popular schools in New Jersey. Rowan is a public institution located in Glassboro, New Jersey. The school has a fairly large population, and it awarded 4,303 bachelor’s degrees in 2020-2021.

Montclair State University is a large public school located in Montclair, New Jersey that handed out 3,771 bachelor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
In-state students pay an average of $13,298 in tuition and fees if they attend Montclair State full time. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $21,418. New Jersey Institute of Technology did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for students to get a bachelor’s degree. It came in at #8 on the list. Newark, New Jersey is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out bachelor’s degrees to 1,863 students in 2020-2021.
