Our analysis looked at 160 schools in the United States to see which doctor's degree programs were the most popular for students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from the Mathematics program at each school on the list.

The colleges and universities below are the most popular for math majors pursuing a doctor's degree.

Our analysis found Massachusetts Institute of Technology to be the most popular school for mathematics students who want to pursue a doctor’s degree in the United States. MIT is a fairly large private not-for-profit school located in the medium-sized city of Cambridge.

Of the 26 students majoring in math at MIT, 92% are male and 8% are female.

A rank of #2 on this year’s list means Texas A&M University - College Station is a great place for mathematics students working on their doctor’s degree. Texas A&M College Station is a very large public school located in the city of College Station.

Of the 24 students majoring in math at Texas A&M College Station, 75% are male and 25% are female.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend University of California - Berkeley. It ranked #2 on our 2023 Most Popular Mathematics Doctor’s Degree Schools list. Located in the midsize city of Berkeley, UC Berkeley is a public school with a very large student population.
