The goal was to highlight schools with more affordable prices than others offering similar quality experiences.
Our ranking of value is based on the quality of a program as defined in our per sticker price dollar. More specifically, we discount our quality score by the published tuition and fees charged by a school. This gives the cost per unit of quality for each college. The value is determined by how much quality your dollar buys.
In our regional and nationwide rankings, out-of-state tution and fees are used in our calculations. Average in-state tuition and fees are used for our statewide rankings.

Top 10 Best Health Professions Schools
Our analysis found Salt Lake Community College to be the best value school for health professions students who want to pursue a degree in Utah. Salt Lake Community College is a very large public school located in the large suburb of Salt Lake City.
The average tuition and fees for an in-state undergraduate at Salt Lake Community College are $4,086 a year. The average amount in student loans that health professions majors at Salt Lake Community College take out is $11,866.
Salt Lake Community College not only placed well in our value ranking, but it is also #4 on our Best Health Professions Schools in Utah list.
Out of the 24 schools in Utah that were part of this year’s ranking, Western Governors University landed the # 2 spot on the list. WGU is a fairly large private not-for-profit school located in the large suburb of Salt Lake City.
WGU undergraduate students pay an average of $7,452 in in-state tuition and fees each year. While working on their degree, health professions majors at WGU accumulate an average of around $26,429 in student debt.
WGU not only placed well in our value ranking, but it is also #1 on our Best Health Professions Schools in Utah list.
The excellent programs at Snow College helped the school earn the #3 place on this year’s ranking of the best health professions schools in Utah. Snow College is a moderately-sized public school located in the remote town of Ephraim.
The average tuition and fees for an in-state undergraduate at Snow College are $4,000 a year. Health Professions majors at Snow College take out an average of $11,000 in student loans while working on their egree.
The excellent programs at Brigham Young University - Provo helped the school earn the #4 place on this year’s ranking of the best health professions schools in Utah. Located in the midsize city of Provo, BYU is a private not-for-profit college with a fairly large student population.
In-state tuition fees for undergraduate students at BYU are $6,120 per year. The average amount in student loans that health professions majors at BYU take out is $9,371.

A rank of #5 on this year’s list means Utah State University is a great value for health professions students. Located in the city of Logan, USU is a public school with a very large student population.
The average tuition and fees for an in-state undergraduate at USU are $8,960 a year. While working on their degree, health professions majors at USU accumulate an average of around $17,887 in student debt.
Weber State University landed the #6 spot in the 2023 rankings for the best value health professions programs. WSU is a fairly large public school located in the small city of Ogden.
WSU undergraduate students pay an average of $6,228 in in-state tuition and fees each year. After completing their degree, health professions graduates from WSU carry an average student debtload of $19,277.
Utah Valley University did quite well in this year’s ranking of the best value schools for health professions students. It came in at #7 on the list. UVU is a fairly large public school located in the city of Orem.
The average tuition and fees for an in-state undergraduate at UVU are $6,010 a year. On average, health professions graduates from UVU take out $14,104 in student loans while working on their degree.
In addition to its best value ranking, and one of the reasons why the school is on the list, UVU is ranked #3 for overall quality for health professions in Utah.

University of Utah came in at #8 in this year’s edition of the Best Value Health Professions Schools in Utah ranking. U of U is a very large public school located in the midsize city of Salt Lake City.
The average tuition and fees for an in-state undergraduate at U of U are $8,893 a year. While working on their degree, health professions majors at U of U accumulate an average of around $20,221 in student debt.
U of U did well in our overall quality rankings, too. It placed #5 on our Best Health Professions Schools in Utah list.
Dixie State University landed the #9 spot in the 2023 rankings for the best value health professions programs. Dixie State College is a fairly large public school located in the small city of Saint George.
In-state tuition fees for undergraduate students at Dixie State College are $5,862 per year. Health Professions majors at Dixie State College take out an average of $18,154 in student loans while working on their egree.
