This report analyzed 112 schools in the United States to see which ones were the most popular doctor's degree programs for students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from the Foreign Languages & Linguistics program at each school on the list.

Chicago, IL

Our 2023 rankings named University of Chicago the most popular school in the United States for foreign languages and linguistics students working on their doctor’s degree. Located in the city of Chicago, UChicago is a private not-for-profit school with a fairly large student population.

Of the 49 students majoring in foreign languages and linguistics at UChicago, 51% are male and 49% are female.

The in-demand doctor’s degree programs at Indiana University - Bloomington helped the school earn the #2 place on this year’s ranking of the most popular foreign languages and linguistics schools in the United States. Located in the small city of Bloomington, IU Bloomington is a public school with a fairly large student population.

About 51% of the students majoring in foreign languages and linguistics at the school are women while 49% are male.
