Our analysis looked at 116 schools in Pennsylvania to see which associate degree programs were the most popular for students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from each school on the list.

Our analysis found Harrisburg Area Community College to be the most popular school for students who want to pursue a associate degree in Pennsylvania. This fairly large public school is located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and it awarded 1,876 associate degrees in 2020-2021.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at HACC is $8,295. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $9,818. On average, associate degree students take out $22,678 in loans while pursuing their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 64% were women.
If you are interested in distance education, be sure to check with the school since HACC does offer online classes for certain majors. During the 2019-2020 year, about 50% of the undergraduates at the school took at least one online course.
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Community College of Allegheny County. It ranked #2 on our 2023 Most Popular Associate Degree Schools in Pennsylvania list. CCAC is a public institution located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The school has a fairly large population, and it awarded 1,830 associate degrees in 2020-2021.
Full-time students from Pennsylvania pay an average of $8,323 in tuition and fees if they choose to attend CCAC. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $11,863. The average tuition and fees at Pittsburgh Technical College is $16,699. In-state students do not receive a discount, however you may be able to reduce your price if you receive financial aid. By the time they get their associate degree, students from this school have racked up an average of $20,765 in student loans. Around 43% of those degree recipients were women.

With a ranking of #14, Butler County Community College did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for students working on their associate degree. This small public school is located in Butler, Pennsylvania, and it awarded 429 associate degrees in 2020-2021.
