Our 2023 rankings named Fort Hays State University the best value school in Kansas for students working on their graduate certificate. Fort Hays State University is a fairly large public school located in Hays, Kansas that handed out 37 graduate certificates in 2020-2021.

If you are interested in distance education, be sure to check with the school since FHSU does offer online graduate classes for certain majors. During the 2019-2020 year, about 93% of the graduate students at the school took at least one online course.

KU graduate students pay an average of $25,007 in tuition and fees each year.
Online graduate courses are available at KU, but you will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your field of interest. During the 2019-2020 year, about 69% of the graduate students at the school took at least one online course.
In addition to its best value ranking, and one of the reasons why the school is on the list, KU is ranked #2 for overall quality in Kansas.
With a ranking of #7, Kansas State University did quite well on this year’s best value schools for students working on their graduate certificate. K -State is located in Manhattan, Kansas and has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 201 graduate certificates to qualified students.
Out-of-state tuition fees for graduate students at K -State are $23,949 per year.
Some students may be able to take online graduate classes at K -State. In fact, around 52% of the graduate population registered for at least one online class in 2019-2020.

Washburn University came in at #8 in this year’s edition of the Best Value Graduate Certificate Schools in Kansas ranking. Located in Topeka, Kansas, the medium-sized public school handed out 60 graduate certificate awards in 2020-2021.
Out-of-state tuition fees for graduate students at Washburn University are $19,316 per year.
One thing to take note of is that Washburn University does offer online graduate classes in some areas. During the 2019-2020 year, about 48% of the graduate students at the school took at least one online course.
With a ranking of #9, Emporia State University did quite well on this year’s best value schools for students working on their graduate certificate. This medium-sized public school is located in Emporia, Kansas, and it awarded 48 graduate certificates in 2020-2021.
The average tuition and fees for an out-of-state graduate students at ESU are $18,353 a year.
One thing to take note of is that ESU does offer online graduate classes in some areas. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 94% of graduates took at least one course online in 2019-2020.
With a ranking of #10, MidAmerica Nazarene University did quite well on this year’s best value schools for students working on their graduate certificate. This small private not-for-profit school is located in Olathe, Kansas, and it awarded 24 graduate certificates in 2020-2021.
