To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from the Physics program at each school on the list.

Our 2023 rankings named Duke University the most popular school in the Southeast Region for physics students working on their doctor’s degree. Located in the large city of Durham, Duke is a private not-for-profit school with a large student population.

Of the 20 students majoring in physics at Duke, 80% are male and 20% are female.

Tallahassee, FL

A rank of #2 on this year’s list means Florida State University is a great place for physics students working on their doctor’s degree. Florida State is a very large public school located in the city of Tallahassee.

About 28% of the students majoring in physics at the school are women while 72% are male.
