Our 2023 rankings named University of Florida the most popular school in the Southeast Region for astronomy and astrophysics students working on their bachelor’s degree. Located in the medium-sized city of Gainesville, UF is a public college with a fairly large student population.

Women make up 50% of the astronomy majors at the school.

Out of the 11 schools in the Southeast Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Florida Institute of Technology landed the # 2 spot on the list. Located in the small city of Melbourne, Florida Tech is a private not-for-profit school with a moderately-sized student population.

Of the 24 students majoring in astronomy at Florida Tech, 25% are male and 75% are female.
