Out of all the majors we analyze each year, historic preservation was ranked #294 in the country. In fact 416 degrees and certificates were handed out in 2020-2021.

Our 2023 rankings named University of Mary Washington the most popular school in the Southeast Region for historic preservation students. UMW is a small public school located in the suburb of Fredericksburg.

After completing their degree, historic preservation graduates from UMW carry an average student debt load of $20,441.

Charleston, SC

Out of the 17 schools in the Southeast Region that were part of this year’s ranking, College of Charleston landed the # 2 spot on the list. C of C is a large public school located in the medium-sized city of Charleston.

On average, historic preservation graduates from C of C take out $23,807 in student loans while working on their degree.

Lexington, KY

The excellent programs at University of Kentucky helped the school earn the #3 place on this year’s ranking of the best historic preservation schools in the Southeast Region . UK is a very large public school located in the large city of Lexington.

A rank of #4 on this year’s list means Savannah College of Art and Design is a great place for historic preservation students. Located in the midsize city of Savannah, SCAD is a private not-for-profit college with a large student population.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around you if you attend University of Georgia. The school came in at #5 on this year’s Most Popular Historic Preservation Schools in the Southeast Region list. UGA is a fairly large public school located in the medium-sized city of Athens.
