Our 2023 rankings named Santa Monica College the most popular online school in the United States for history students working on their associate degree. Located in the small city of Santa Monica, SMC is a public college with a fairly large student population.
Of the 42 students majoring in history at SMC, 48% are male and 52% are female.

Out of the 39 online programs at schools in the United States that were part of this year’s ranking, American Public University System landed the # 2 spot on the list. Located in the fringe town of Charles Town, American Military University is a private for-profit college with a very large student population.
