Out of all the majors we analyze each year, public health was ranked #25 in the country. In fact 40,596 degrees and certificates were handed out in 2020-2021.

Our analysis looked at 18 schools in the Far Western US Region to see which doctor's degree programs offered the best value experiences for public health students with the aim of identifying those quality schools that are more affordable than some of their counterparts.
Our ranking of value is based on the quality of a program as defined in our per sticker price dollar. Specifically, our score for quality is discounted by the published tuition and fees charged by the given college. This gives the cost per unit of quality for each college. The more quality your dollar buys, the better the value.
In our regional and nationwide rankings, out-of-state tution and fees are used in our calculations. For statewide rankings, we use average in-state tuition and fees.

Our 2023 rankings named University of California - Los Angeles the best value school in the Far Western US Region for public health students working on their doctor’s degree. UCLA is a fairly large public school located in the city of Los Angeles.
UCLA graduate students pay an average of $28,138 in tuition and fees each year.
UCLA also claimed a spot on our Best Public Health Doctor’s Degree Schools in the Far Western US Region list. It’s in the top 20% of all schools in this category.
