Our 2023 rankings named University of Minnesota - Duluth the best value school in the Plains States Region for area studies students. Located in the small city of Duluth, UMN Duluth is a public college with a moderately-sized student population.

The excellent programs at University of Missouri - Columbia helped the school earn the #2 place on this year’s ranking of the best area studies schools in the Plains States Region . Located in the medium-sized city of Columbia, Mizzou is a public school with a very large student population.
