To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from the Engineering program at each school on the list.

The colleges and universities below are the most popular for engineering majors pursuing a doctor's degree.

Our analysis found Georgia Institute of Technology - Main Campus to be the most popular school for engineering students who want to pursue a doctor’s degree in the Southeast Region . Located in the large city of Atlanta, Georgia Tech is a public college with a very large student population.

Of the 379 students majoring in engineering at Georgia Tech, 73% are male and 27% are female.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend North Carolina State University. It ranked #2 on our 2023 Most Popular Engineering Doctor’s Degree Schools in the Southeast Region list. NC State is a fairly large public school located in the city of Raleigh.

About 29% of the students majoring in engineering at the school are women while 71% are male.

The University of Tennessee - Knoxville did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for engineering students to get a doctor’s degree. It came in at #6 on the list. UT Knoxville is a fairly large public school located in the medium-sized city of Knoxville.

Of the 111 students majoring in engineering at UT Knoxville, 72% are male and 28% are female.

Duke University did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for engineering students to get a doctor’s degree. It came in at #8 on the list. Duke is a large private not-for-profit school located in the city of Durham.
