Our 2023 rankings named Purdue University - Main Campus the best value school in Indiana for engineering students. Purdue is a very large public school located in the city of West Lafayette.
The average tuition and fees for an in-state undergraduate at Purdue are $9,992 a year. While working on their degree, engineering majors at Purdue accumulate an average of around $20,319 in student debt. This translates to an average monthly loan payment of $496, based on a 10-year repayment plan.
In addition to its best value ranking, and one of the reasons why the school is on the list, Purdue is ranked #3 for overall quality for engineering in Indiana.
The excellent programs at Purdue University Northwest helped the school earn the #2 place on this year’s ranking of the best engineering schools in Indiana. Purdue Northwest is a moderately-sized public school located in the large suburb of Hammond.
The average tuition and fees for an in-state undergraduate at Purdue Northwest are $7,734 a year. After completing their degree, engineering graduates from Purdue Northwest carry an average student debtload of $25,750.
The excellent programs at Purdue University Fort Wayne helped the school earn the #3 place on this year’s ranking of the best engineering schools in Indiana. PFW is a moderately-sized public school located in the large city of Fort Wayne.
PFW undergraduate students pay an average of $8,857 in in-state tuition and fees each year. Engineering majors at PFW take out an average of $19,047 in student loans while working on their egree.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend University of Southern Indiana. It ranked #4 on our 2023 Best Value Engineering Schools in Indiana list. USI is a moderately-sized public school located in the suburb of Evansville.

Valparaiso University did quite well in this year’s ranking of the best value schools for engineering students. It came in at #10 on the list. Located in the suburb of Valparaiso, Valpo is a private not-for-profit school with a small student population.
The average tuition and fees for an in-state undergraduate at Valpo are $44,796 a year. Engineering majors at Valpo take out an average of $27,000 in student loans while working on their egree.
