To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from the Mechanical Engineering program at each school on the list.

Our analysis found Texas A&M University - College Station to be the most popular school for mechanical engineering students who want to pursue a bachelor’s degree in the Southwest Region . Texas A&M College Station is a very large public school located in the city of College Station.

Of the 400 students majoring in ME at Texas A&M College Station, 80% are male and 21% are female.

The average amount in student loans that ME majors at Texas A&M College Station take out while working on their Bachelor's Degree is $19,833. When it comes time to repay the loan, graduates who are on a 10-year repayment plan pay an average monthly payment of $240.

Lubbock, TX

Out of the 41 schools in the Southwest Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Texas Tech University landed the # 2 spot on the list. Located in the city of Lubbock, Texas Tech is a public school with a very large student population.

Women make up 11% of the ME majors at the school.

After completing their Bachelor's Degree, ME graduates from Texas Tech carry an average student debt load of $26,941. The average monthly payment of a loan this size is about $268, assuming that the borrower is on a 10-year repayment plan.
