This report analyzed 567 schools in the Middle Atlantic Region to see which ones were the most popular undergraduate certificate programs for students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from each school on the list.

Long Island City, New York is the setting for this very small institution of higher learning. The private for-profit school handed out undergraduate certificates to 949 students in 2020-2021.
On average, undergraduate certificate students take out $9,722 in loans while pursuing their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 3% were women.
You’ll be in good company if you attend Lincoln Technical Institute - Union. The school came in at #2 on this year’s Most Popular Undergraduate Certificate Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region list. In-state students pay an average of $7,050 in tuition and fees if they attend CSM full time. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $9,030. By the time they get their undergraduate certificate, students from this school have racked up an average of $13,169 in student loans. Around 68% of those degree recipients were women.

Community College of Allegheny County landed the #7 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular undergraduate certificate programs. Located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the fairly large public school awarded 504 diplomas to qualifed undergraduate certificate students in 2020-2021.
Full-time students from Pennsylvania pay an average of $8,323 in tuition and fees if they choose to attend CCAC. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $11,863. On average, undergraduate certificate students take out $17,933 in loans while pursuing their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 20% were women.
One thing to take note of is that CCAC does offer online classes in some areas. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 48% of undergraduates took at least one course online in 2019-2020.
Lincoln Technical Institute - Mahwah did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for students to get an undergraduate certificate. It came in at #8 on the list. This small private for-profit school is located in Mahwah, New Jersey, and it awarded 455 undergraduate certificates in 2020-2021.
Undergraduate Certificate recipients from Lincoln Tech - Mahwah accumulate an average of $12,800 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Of those students who received their degree, 3% were women.
Universal Technical Institute - Exton ranked #9 on this year’s Most Popular Undergraduate Certificate Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region list. Located in Exton, Pennsylvania, the small private for-profit school handed out 412 undergraduate certificate awards in 2020-2021.
Undergraduate Certificate recipients from UTI Exton accumulate an average of $16,502 in student debt by the time they complete their degree. Around 5% of those degree recipients were women.
With a ranking of #10, Pennco Tech-Blackwood did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for students working on their undergraduate certificate. Erie Community College landed the #22 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular undergraduate certificate programs. This medium-sized public school is located in Buffalo, New York, and it awarded 277 undergraduate certificates in 2020-2021.
Students from New York who attend Erie Community College full time pay an average of $5,722 in tuition and fees. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $10,769. By the time they get their undergraduate certificate, students from this school have racked up an average of $13,489 in student loans. Around 39% of those degree recipients were women.

Lincoln Technical Institute - Moorestown came in at #23 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Undergraduate Certificate Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region ranking. Located in Moorestown, New Jersey, the very small private for-profit school awarded 267 diplomas to qualifed undergraduate certificate students in 2020-2021.
By the time they get their undergraduate certificate, students from this school have racked up an average of $14,396 in student loans. Around 84% of those degree recipients were women.
With a ranking of #24, Harrisburg Area Community College did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for students working on their undergraduate certificate. HACC is a public institution located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The school has a fairly large population, and it awarded 259 undergraduate certificates in 2020-2021.
Students from Pennsylvania who attend HACC full time pay an average of $8,295 in tuition and fees. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $9,818.
