Our analysis looked at 26 schools in Georgia to see which doctor's degree programs were the most popular for students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from each school on the list.

Our analysis found University of Georgia to be the most popular school for students who want to pursue a doctor’s degree in Georgia. Athens, Georgia is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out doctor’s degrees to 912 students in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 59% were women.
Some students may be able to take online graduate classes at UGA. In fact, around 18% of the graduate population registered for at least one online class in 2019-2020.
You’ll be in good company if you attend Emory University. The school came in at #2 on this year’s Most Popular Doctor’s Degree Schools in Georgia list. Emory is a fairly large private not-for-profit school situated in Atlanta, Georgia. It awarded 763 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Around 59% of those degree recipients were women.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Georgia Institute of Technology - Main Campus. It ranked #3 on our 2023 Most Popular Doctor’s Degree Schools in Georgia list. Georgia Tech is a public institution located in Atlanta, Georgia. The school has a large population, and it awarded 577 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.

Mercer University ranked #6 on this year’s Most Popular Doctor’s Degree Schools in Georgia list. Mercer is a medium-sized private not-for-profit school situated in Macon, Georgia. It awarded 486 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.

Since the graduate programs at Life are online, the school is an excellent choice for graduate students who need more flexibility than what is offered at some other schools.
Georgia Southern University came in at #8 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Doctor’s Degree Schools in Georgia ranking. Located in Statesboro, Georgia, the large public school handed out 116 doctor’s degree awards in 2020-2021.
Around 69% of those degree recipients were women.
You may have the opportunity to take online graduate classes at GaSou. Of all the graduate students enrolled at the school during the 2019-2020 academic year, around 74% took at least some of their classes online.
South University, Savannah ranked #9 on this year’s Most Popular Doctor’s Degree Schools in Georgia list. Located in Savannah, Georgia, the very small private for-profit school awarded 93 diplomas to qualifed doctor’s degree students in 2020-2021.
Around 62% of those degree recipients were women.
South University, Savannah does offer online graduate classes for certain degree levels. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 13% of graduates took at least one course online in 2019-2020.
Morehouse School of Medicine landed the #10 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular doctor’s degree programs. Located in Atlanta, Georgia, the very small private not-for-profit school handed out 91 doctor’s degree awards in 2020-2021.
Around 60% of those degree recipients were women.
One thing to take note of is that MSM does offer online graduate classes in some areas. Of all the graduate students enrolled at the school during the 2019-2020 academic year, around 4% took at least some of their classes online.
Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School came in at #11 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Doctor’s Degree Schools in Georgia ranking. Atlanta, Georgia is the setting for this very small institution of higher learning. The private for-profit school handed out doctor’s degrees to 76 students in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 63% were women.

South University’s online programs ranked #12 on this year’s Most Popular Doctor’s Degree Schools in Georgia list. Located in Savannah, Georgia, the medium-sized private for-profit school handed out 71 doctor’s degree awards in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 82% were women.
Since the graduate programs at South University’s online programs are online, the school is an excellent choice for graduate students who need more flexibility than what is offered at some other schools.
Valdosta State University did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for students to get a doctor’s degree. It came in at #13 on the list. VSU is a public institution located in Valdosta, Georgia. The school has a fairly large population, and it awarded 55 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Around 75% of those degree recipients were women.
One thing to take note of is that VSU does offer online graduate classes in some areas. In 2019-2020 about 90% of the graduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
University of North Georgia landed the #14 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular doctor’s degree programs. University of North Georgia is a fairly large public school located in Dahlonega, Georgia that handed out 47 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Around 74% of those degree recipients were women.
Depending on your major, you may be able to take online graduate classes at UNG. Of all the graduate students enrolled at the school during the 2019-2020 academic year, around 66% took at least some of their classes online.
Brenau University ranked #15 on this year’s Most Popular Doctor’s Degree Schools in Georgia list. Located in Gainesville, Georgia, the small private not-for-profit school handed out 46 doctor’s degree awards in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 67% were women.
If you are interested in distance education, be sure to check with the school since Brenau does offer online graduate classes for certain majors. During the 2019-2020 year, about 56% of the graduate students at the school took at least one online course.
Clark Atlanta University landed the #16 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular doctor’s degree programs. CAU is a small private not-for-profit school situated in Atlanta, Georgia. It awarded 42 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.

University of West Georgia came in at #18 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Doctor’s Degree Schools in Georgia ranking. University of West Georgia is a fairly large public school situated in Carrollton, Georgia. It awarded 30 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 70% were women.
Some students may be able to take online graduate classes at University of West Georgia. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 95% of graduates took at least one course online in 2019-2020.
Columbus State University did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for students to get a doctor’s degree. It came in at #19 on the list. CSU is located in Columbus, Georgia and has a medium-sized student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 23 doctor’s degrees to qualified students.
Around 78% of those degree recipients were women.
Online graduate courses are available at CSU, but you will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your field of interest. During the 2019-2020 year, about 81% of the graduate students at the school took at least one online course.
With a ranking of #20, Columbia Theological Seminary did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for students working on their doctor’s degree. Columbia Theological Seminary is a private not-for-profit institution located in Decatur, Georgia. The school has a very small population, and it awarded 16 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 44% were women.
