To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from each school on the list.

Our analysis found University of Michigan - Ann Arbor to be the most popular school for students who want to pursue a doctor’s degree in Michigan. University of Michigan - Ann Arbor is a large public school located in Ann Arbor, Michigan that handed out 1,562 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Around 51% of those degree recipients were women.
U-M does have options available for those who want to take online graduate classes. You will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your specific major. In 2019-2020 about 74% of the graduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.

University of Michigan - Flint came in at #10 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Doctor’s Degree Schools in Michigan ranking. Located in Flint, Michigan, the medium-sized public school awarded 114 diplomas to qualifed doctor’s degree students in 2020-2021.
Around 73% of those degree recipients were women.
One thing to take note of is that UM Flint does offer online graduate classes in some areas. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 63% of graduates took at least one course online in 2019-2020.
With a ranking of #11, Andrews University did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for students working on their doctor’s degree. Andrews is located in Berrien Springs, Michigan and has a small student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 110 doctor’s degrees to qualified students.

Michigan Technological University landed the #12 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular doctor’s degree programs. Michigan Tech is located in Houghton, Michigan and has a medium-sized student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 84 doctor’s degrees to qualified students.

Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for students to get a doctor’s degree. It came in at #14 on the list. Located in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the very small private not-for-profit school awarded 72 diplomas to qualifed doctor’s degree students in 2020-2021.
Of those students who received their degree, 53% were women.
Since the graduate programs at Western Michigan University School of Medicine are online, the school is an excellent choice for graduate students who need more flexibility than what is offered at some other schools.

Eastern Michigan is located in Ypsilanti, Michigan and has a fairly large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 32 doctor’s degrees to qualified students.

Lawrence Technological University landed the #17 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular doctor’s degree programs. This small private not-for-profit school is located in Southfield, Michigan, and it awarded 10 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Around 20% of those degree recipients were women.
One thing to take note of is that Lawrence Tech does offer online graduate classes in some areas. During the 2019-2020 year, about 95% of the graduate students at the school took at least one online course.
University of Michigan - Dearborn did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for students to get a doctor’s degree. It came in at #18 on the list. Located in Dearborn, Michigan, the medium-sized public school awarded 8 diplomas to qualifed doctor’s degree students in 2020-2021.
