This report analyzed 59 schools in the Great Lakes Region to see which ones had the most popular online doctor's degree programs for students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from schools with online programs.

Our 2023 rankings named Chamberlain University - Illinois the most popular school in the Great Lakes Region for students working on their doctor’s degree. Chamberlain - Illinois is a private for-profit institution located in Addison, Illinois. The school has a large population, and it awarded 565 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Around 93% of those degree recipients were women.
Chamberlain - Illinois is one of the schools on our list that is primarily online. Each graduate student at the school took at least one class online.
You’ll be in good company if you attend American College of Education. The school came in at #2 on this year’s Most Popular Online Doctor’s Degree Schools in the Great Lakes Region list. Located in Indianapolis, Indiana, the medium-sized private for-profit school handed out 181 doctor’s degree awards in 2020-2021.

Edgewood College did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for students to get a doctor’s degree. It came in at #10 on the list. Cardinal Stritch University came in at #11 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Online Doctor’s Degree Schools in the Great Lakes Region ranking. Located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the small private not-for-profit school awarded 25 diplomas to qualifed doctor’s degree students in 2020-2021.
Around 68% of those degree recipients were women.

Andrews University ranked #19 on this year’s Most Popular Online Doctor’s Degree Schools in the Great Lakes Region list. Andrews University is a small private not-for-profit school located in Berrien Springs, Michigan that handed out 110 doctor’s degrees in 2020-2021.

During the 2019-2020 year, about 36% of the graduate students at the school took at least one online course.

Saint Mary’s College came in at #22 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Online Doctor’s Degree Schools in the Great Lakes Region ranking. Located in Notre Dame, Indiana, the small private not-for-profit school awarded 9 diplomas to qualifed doctor’s degree students in 2020-2021.
Around 89% of those degree recipients were women.
