This report analyzed 128 schools in the Middle Atlantic Region to see which ones offered the best undergraduate certificate programs for students. The factors used to develop this ranking include those related to how in-demand the school us, the overall quality of the school, and post-graduation wages, and more.

Our 2023 rankings named Indiana University of Pennsylvania - Main Campus the best school in the Middle Atlantic Region for students working on their undergraduate certificate.
In-state students pay an average of $13,144 in tuition and fees if they attend IUP full time. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $18,897.
If you are interested in distance education, be sure to check with the school since IUP does offer online classes for certain majors. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 59% of undergraduates took at least one course online in 2019-2020.
The excellent undergraduate certificate programs at Lincoln Technical Institute - Allentown helped the school earn the #2 place on this year’s ranking of the best schools in the Middle Atlantic Region .
On average, undergraduate certificate students take out $17,968 in loans while pursuing their degree.
Out of the 128 schools in the Middle Atlantic Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Georgetown University landed the # 3 spot on the list.
If you want to attend Georgetown, expect to pay an average of $59,957 in tuition and fees. Of course, this could be reduced if you receive financial aid.
Georgetown is primarily an online school, so it is a great choice for returning adults and students who work full time.
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Rutgers University - New Brunswick. It ranked #4 on our 2023 Best Undergraduate Certificate Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region list.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at Rutgers New Brunswick is $15,804. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $33,005. Undergraduate Certificate recipients from Rutgers New Brunswick accumulate an average of $25,831 in student debt by the time they complete their degree.

The excellent undergraduate certificate programs at Thomas Jefferson University helped the school earn the #5 place on this year’s ranking of the best schools in the Middle Atlantic Region .
If you don’t receive financial aid, you can expect a bill for $42,966 to cover tuition and fees at Thomas Jefferson University. The school does not offer an in-state discount.

College of Southern Maryland did quite well in this year’s ranking of the best places for students to get an undergraduate certificate. It came in at #7 on the list.

Eastwick College - Hackensack came in at #8 in this year’s edition of the Best Undergraduate Certificate Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region ranking.
If you don’t receive financial aid, you can expect a bill for $17,424 to cover tuition and fees at Eastwick College - Hackensack. The school does not offer an in-state discount. Online courses are available at Delaware Tech, but you will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your field of interest. In fact, around 93% of the undergraduate population registered for at least one online class in 2019-2020.
University of Maryland Global Campus ranked #10 on this year’s Best Undergraduate Certificate Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region list.
Students from Maryland who attend UMGC full time pay an average of $7,704 in tuition and fees. Out-of-state students pay an average of $12,336. By the time they get their undergraduate certificate, students from this school have racked up an average of $26,847 in student loans.
You may have the opportunity to take online classes at UMGC. In fact, around 92% of the undergraduate population registered for at least one online class in 2019-2020.
With a ranking of #11, St John’s University - New York did quite well on this year’s best schools for students working on their undergraduate certificate.
STJ does not offer a discount to in-state students, so the average tuition and fees for all undergraduates is $45,562. This amount may be reduced if you receive financial aid.
STJ does offer online classes for certain degree levels. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 65% of undergraduates took at least one course online in 2019-2020.
With a ranking of #12, The Graduate Center, CUNY did quite well on this year’s best schools for students working on their undergraduate certificate.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at The Graduate Center is $7,410. If you are from out of state, expect to pay an average of $15,360. Undergraduate Certificate recipients from The Graduate Center accumulate an average of $14,964 in student debt by the time they complete their degree.
The Graduate Center is primarily an online school, so it is a great choice for returning adults and students who work full time.
With a ranking of #13, Drexel University did quite well on this year’s best schools for students working on their undergraduate certificate.
If you want to attend Drexel, expect to pay an average of $57,136 in tuition and fees. Of course, this could be reduced if you receive financial aid.

With a ranking of #14, Montclair State University did quite well on this year’s best schools for students working on their undergraduate certificate.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at Montclair State is $13,298. Out-of-state students pay an average of $21,418.
Montclair State does offer online classes for certain degree levels. In fact, around 97% of the undergraduate population registered for at least one online class in 2019-2020.
YTI Career Institute-York landed the #15 spot in the 2023 rankings for the best undergraduate certificate programs.
On average, undergraduate certificate students take out $10,788 in loans while pursuing their degree.
YTI does have options available for those who want to take online classes. You will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your specific major. Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2019-2020 academic year, around 82% took at least some of their classes online.
Touro College landed the #16 spot in the 2023 rankings for the best undergraduate certificate programs.
The average tuition and fees at Touro is $18,908. In-state students do not receive a discount, however you may be able to reduce your price if you receive financial aid.
One thing to take note of is that Touro does offer online classes in some areas. Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2019-2020 academic year, around 86% took at least some of their classes online.
With a ranking of #17, Union County College did quite well on this year’s best schools for students working on their undergraduate certificate.
On average, undergraduate certificate students take out $24,845 in loans while pursuing their degree.
Some students may be able to take online classes at Union County College. Of all the undergraduates enrolled at the school during the 2019-2020 academic year, around 99% took at least some of their classes online.
Eastwick College - Nutley ranked #18 on this year’s Best Undergraduate Certificate Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region list.
If you don’t receive financial aid, you can expect a bill for $15,327 to cover tuition and fees at Eastwick College - Nutley. The school does not offer an in-state discount. On average, undergraduate certificate students take out $13,606 in loans while pursuing their degree.

Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $18,486. By the time they get their undergraduate certificate, students from this school have racked up an average of $25,785 in student loans.
One thing to take note of is that SUNY College of Technology at Farmingdale does offer online classes in some areas. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 99% of undergraduates took at least one course online in 2019-2020.
Passaic County Community College came in at #20 in this year’s edition of the Best Undergraduate Certificate Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region ranking.
The average in-state tuition and fees for students at PCCC is $7,350. Out-of-state students pay an average of $9,390. On average, undergraduate certificate students take out $8,912 in loans while pursuing their degree.
Some students may be able to take online classes at PCCC. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 26% of undergraduates took at least one course online in 2019-2020.
Catholic University of America ranked #21 on this year’s Best Undergraduate Certificate Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region list.
If you don’t receive financial aid, you can expect a bill for $52,156 to cover tuition and fees at CUA. The school does not offer an in-state discount.
Some students may be able to take online classes at CUA. During the 2019-2020 year, about 98% of the undergraduates at the school took at least one online course.
Lackawanna College landed the #22 spot in the 2023 rankings for the best undergraduate certificate programs.
If you want to attend Lackawanna College, expect to pay an average of $16,130 in tuition and fees. Of course, this could be reduced if you receive financial aid. On average, undergraduate certificate students take out $14,013 in loans while pursuing their degree.

Hagerstown Community College came in at #23 in this year’s edition of the Best Undergraduate Certificate Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region ranking.

By the time they get their undergraduate certificate, students from this school have racked up an average of $14,931 in student loans.

With a ranking of #24, Johnson College did quite well on this year’s best schools for students working on their undergraduate certificate.
If you want to attend Johnson College, expect to pay an average of $20,025 in tuition and fees. Of course, this could be reduced if you receive financial aid. On average, undergraduate certificate students take out $11,526 in loans while pursuing their degree.
Johnson College is primarily an online school, so it is a great choice for returning adults and students who work full time.
Butler County Community College came in at #25 in this year’s edition of the Best Undergraduate Certificate Schools in the Middle Atlantic Region ranking.
In-state students pay an average of $8,400 in tuition and fees if they attend BC3 full time. Those students who come from outside the state pay an average of $11,400. On average, undergraduate certificate students take out $13,339 in loans while pursuing their degree.
One thing to take note of is that BC3 does offer online classes in some areas. In fact, around 37% of the undergraduate population registered for at least one online class in 2019-2020.
