Our analysis found Johns Hopkins University to be the best school for students who want to pursue a master’s degree in Maryland.
Depending on your major, you may be able to take online graduate classes at Johns Hopkins. In fact, around 85% of the graduate population registered for at least one online class in 2019-2020.
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend University of Maryland - College Park. It ranked #2 on our 2023 Best Master’s Degree Schools in Maryland list.
You may have the opportunity to take online graduate classes at UMCP. During the 2019-2020 year, about 75% of the graduate students at the school took at least one online course.
A rank of #3 on this year’s list means Loyola University Maryland is a great place for students working on their master’s degree.
Depending on your major, you may be able to take online graduate classes at Loyola Maryland. Of all the graduate students enrolled at the school during the 2019-2020 academic year, around 97% took at least some of their classes online.
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Hood College. It ranked #4 on our 2023 Best Master’s Degree Schools in Maryland list.
One thing to take note of is that Hood does offer online graduate classes in some areas. In fact, around 43% of the graduate population registered for at least one online class in 2019-2020.
The excellent master’s degree programs at McDaniel College helped the school earn the #5 place on this year’s ranking of the best schools in Maryland.
Since the graduate programs at McDaniel are primarily online school, so it is a great choice for returning adults and students who work full time.
Salisbury University did quite well in this year’s ranking of the best places for students to get a master’s degree. It came in at #6 on the list.
Depending on your major, you may be able to take online graduate classes at Salisbury. During the 2019-2020 year, about 96% of the graduate students at the school took at least one online course.
Towson University ranked #7 on this year’s Best Master’s Degree Schools in Maryland list.
If you are interested in distance education, be sure to check with the school since Towson does offer online graduate classes for certain majors. In fact, around 100% of the graduate population registered for at least one online class in 2019-2020.
University of Maryland - Baltimore County came in at #8 in this year’s edition of the Best Master’s Degree Schools in Maryland ranking.
UMBC does have options available for those who want to take online graduate classes. You will need to check with the school to see if they are available for your specific major. In 2019-2020 about 97% of the graduate students at the school chose to take one or more online courses.
With a ranking of #9, University of Maryland Global Campus did quite well on this year’s best schools for students working on their master’s degree.
Some students may be able to take online graduate classes at UMGC. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 91% of graduates took at least one course online in 2019-2020.
Mount St Mary’s University came in at #10 in this year’s edition of the Best Master’s Degree Schools in Maryland ranking.
One thing to take note of is that The Mount does offer online graduate classes in some areas. During the 2019-2020 year, about 48% of the graduate students at the school took at least one online course.
Notre Dame of Maryland University came in at #11 in this year’s edition of the Best Master’s Degree Schools in Maryland ranking.

Frostburg State University ranked #12 on this year’s Best Master’s Degree Schools in Maryland list.

University of Baltimore did quite well in this year’s ranking of the best places for students to get a master’s degree. It came in at #13 on the list.
UB is one of the schools on our list that is primarily online. Each graduate student at the school took at least one class online.
Bowie State University did quite well in this year’s ranking of the best places for students to get a master’s degree. It came in at #14 on the list.
Depending on your major, you may be able to take online graduate classes at Bowie State University. To give an idea of how popular online courses are at the school, 96% of graduates took at least one course online in 2019-2020.
Coppin State University came in at #15 in this year’s edition of the Best Master’s Degree Schools in Maryland ranking.
Some students may be able to take online graduate classes at Coppin. Of all the graduate students enrolled at the school during the 2019-2020 academic year, around 36% took at least some of their classes online.
Morgan State University ranked #16 on this year’s Best Master’s Degree Schools in Maryland list.
