Our 2023 rankings named University of Chicago the most popular school in Illinois for economics students working on their bachelor’s degree. UChicago is a large private not-for-profit school located in the large city of Chicago.

Women make up 38% of the economics majors at the school.

While working on their Bachelor's Degree, economics majors at UChicago accumulate an average of around $16,046 in student debt. Assuming that a graduate chooses a 10-year repayment plan, the average monthly loan payment is $708.

Out of the 35 schools in Illinois that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign landed the # 2 spot on the list. Located in the city of Champaign, UIUC is a public school with a very large student population.

Of the 443 students majoring in economics at UIUC, 70% are male and 30% are female.
