Out of all the majors we analyze each year, anthropology was ranked #77 in the country. In fact 11,415 degrees and certificates were handed out in 2020-2021.
There are lots of options to pick from today when trying to decide which program is right for you. With more and more schools offering online options, you could even register for a great program on the other side of the country. On top of that, there are a considerable number of trade schools that offer fast-track entry to many fields.
To assist you in seeing some of the education options that are available to you, Course Advisor has created its Best Value Anthropology Schools in the Southeast Region ranking. This report analyzed 73 schools in the Southeast Region to see which ones offered the best value programs for anthropology students. The goal was to highlight schools with more affordable prices than others offering similar quality experiences.
When determining this ranking, we place a high emphasis on the school's quality as well as its sticker price. Even though a college may be affordable, it may not offer value. More specifically, we discount our quality score by the published tuition and fees charged by a school. This gives the cost per unit of quality for each college. The value is determined by how much quality your dollar buys.
Our calculations use out-of-state tuition and fees in our nationwide and regional rankings. Average in-state tuition and fees are used for our statewide rankings.

Top 10 Best Anthropology Schools
Our 2023 rankings named Western Carolina University the best value school in the Southeast Region for anthropology students. Located in the distant town of Cullowhee, WCU is a public school with a large student population.
The average tuition and fees for an out-of-state undergraduate student at WCU are $8,367 a year. While working on their degree, anthropology majors at WCU accumulate an average of around $20,111 in student debt. For students who choose a 10-year repayment plan, the average monthly student loan payment is $164.
The excellent programs at University of Florida-Online helped the school earn the #2 place on this year’s ranking of the best anthropology schools in the Southeast Region . UF Online is a moderately-sized public school located in the midsize city of Gainesville.
UF Online undergraduate students pay an average of $16,579 in tuition and fees each year. After completing their degree, anthropology graduates from UF Online carry an average student debtload of $15,009. When it comes time to repay the loan, graduates who are on a 10-year repayment plan pay an average monthly payment of $151.
UF Online also claimed a spot on our Best Anthropology Schools in the Southeast Region list. It’s in the top 5% of all schools in this category.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend University of Memphis. It ranked #3 on our 2023 Best Value Anthropology Schools in the Southeast Region list. UofM is a fairly large public school located in the city of Memphis.
The average tuition and fees for an out-of-state undergraduate student at UofM are $14,088 a year. On average, anthropology graduates from UofM take out $25,388 in student loans while working on their degree.
A rank of #4 on this year’s list means University of South Florida - Main Campus is a great value for anthropology students. Located in the large city of Tampa, USF Tampa is a public college with a fairly large student population.
Out-of-state tuition fees for undergraduate students at USF Tampa are $17,324 per year. While working on their degree, anthropology majors at USF Tampa accumulate an average of around $25,103 in student debt.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend James Madison University. It ranked #5 on our 2023 Best Value Anthropology Schools in the Southeast Region list. Located in the small city of Harrisonburg, JMU is a public college with a fairly large student population.
JMU undergraduate students pay an average of $29,564 in tuition and fees each year. Anthropology majors at JMU take out an average of $20,500 in student loans while working on their egree.

UCF undergraduate students pay an average of $22,467 in tuition and fees each year. The average amount in student loans that anthropology majors at UCF take out is $20,000.
UCF excels when it comes to quality. It’s ranked in the top 15% of all schools on our Best Anthropology Schools in the Southeast Region list.

With a ranking of #7, University of North Carolina at Charlotte did quite well on this year’s best value schools for anthropology students. Located in the large city of Charlotte, UNC Charlotte is a public school with a fairly large student population.
Out-of-state tuition fees for undergraduate students at UNC Charlotte are $20,622 per year. Anthropology majors at UNC Charlotte take out an average of $27,000 in student loans while working on their egree.
