This report analyzed 21 schools in the New England Region to see which ones were the most popular doctor's degree programs for students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from the Physics program at each school on the list.

Our 2023 rankings named Harvard University the most popular school in the New England Region for physics students working on their doctor’s degree. Located in the city of Cambridge, Harvard is a private not-for-profit college with a very large student population.

Women make up 26% of the physics majors at the school.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Massachusetts Institute of Technology. It ranked #2 on our 2023 Most Popular Physics Doctor’s Degree Schools in the New England Region list. MIT is a fairly large private not-for-profit school located in the midsize city of Cambridge.

Of the 37 students majoring in physics at MIT, 78% are male and 22% are female.
