To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from the Physics program at each school on the list.

The colleges and universities below are the most popular for physics majors pursuing a bachelor's degree.

Our 2023 rankings named Ohio State University - Main Campus the most popular school in the Great Lakes Region for physics students working on their bachelor’s degree. Located in the city of Columbus, Ohio State is a public school with a very large student population.

About 11% of the students majoring in physics at the school are women while 89% are male.

Chicago, IL

Out of the 136 schools in the Great Lakes Region that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Chicago landed the # 2 spot on the list. UChicago is a large private not-for-profit school located in the large city of Chicago.

Women make up 26% of the physics majors at the school.

A rank of #3 on this year’s list means University of Michigan - Ann Arbor is a great place for physics students working on their bachelor’s degree. Located in the city of Ann Arbor, U-M is a public school with a fairly large student population.
