To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from the Chemistry program at each school on the list.

Our 2023 rankings named Purdue University - Main Campus the most popular school in the Great Lakes Region for chemistry students working on their doctor’s degree. Purdue is a fairly large public school located in the city of West Lafayette.

Of the 58 students majoring in chemistry at Purdue, 59% are male and 41% are female.

A rank of #2 on this year’s list means University of Wisconsin - Madison is a great place for chemistry students working on their doctor’s degree. UW - Madison is a very large public school located in the city of Madison.

Of the 51 students majoring in chemistry at UW - Madison, 53% are male and 47% are female.

The in-demand doctor’s degree programs at Northwestern University helped the school earn the #5 place on this year’s ranking of the most popular chemistry schools in the Great Lakes Region . Northwestern is a fairly large private not-for-profit school located in the city of Evanston.

Of the 43 students majoring in chemistry at Northwestern, 60% are male and 40% are female.
