Our analysis looked at 15 schools in the Southeast Region to see which programs offered the best value experiences for forestry students with the aim of identifying those quality schools that are more affordable than some of their counterparts.
Our ranking of value is based on the quality of a program as defined in our per sticker price dollar. Specifically, our score for quality is discounted by the published tuition and fees charged by the given college. This gives the cost per unit of quality for each college. The more quality your dollar buys, the better the value.
In our regional and nationwide rankings, out-of-state tution and fees are used in our calculations. For statewide rankings, we use average in-state tuition and fees.

Top 10 Best Forestry Schools
Our analysis found Haywood Community College to be the best value school for forestry students who want to pursue a degree in the Southeast Region . Located in the large suburb of Clyde, Haywood Community College is a public school with a small student population.
The average tuition and fees for an out-of-state undergraduate student at Haywood Community College are $8,724 a year.
The excellent programs at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College helped the school earn the #2 place on this year’s ranking of the best forestry schools in the Southeast Region . Located in the distant town of Tifton, ABAC Tifton is a public school with a small student population.
Out-of-state tuition fees for undergraduate students at ABAC Tifton are $10,471 per year. On average, forestry graduates from ABAC Tifton take out $23,875 in student loans while working on their degree.
You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around you if you attend North Carolina State University. The school came in at #3 on this year’s Best Value Forestry Schools in the Southeast Region list. NC State is a very large public school located in the city of Raleigh.
Out-of-state tuition fees for undergraduate students at NC State are $29,916 per year. While working on their degree, forestry majors at NC State accumulate an average of around $22,207 in student debt.

The excellent programs at University of Georgia helped the school earn the #4 place on this year’s ranking of the best forestry schools in the Southeast Region . Located in the medium-sized city of Athens, UGA is a public college with a fairly large student population.
Out-of-state tuition fees for undergraduate students at UGA are $31,108 per year. Forestry majors at UGA take out an average of $20,850 in student loans while working on their egree.

Out of the 15 schools in the Southeast Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Glenville State College landed the # 5 spot on the list. Located in the town of Glenville, Glenville State College is a public school with a small student population.

Louisiana Tech University ranked #6 on this year’s Best Value Forestry Schools in the Southeast Region list. Louisiana Tech is a large public school located in the town of Ruston.

Virginia Tech came in at #9 in this year’s edition of the Best Value Forestry Schools in the Southeast Region ranking. Located in the city of Blacksburg, Virginia Tech is a public school with a very large student population.
The average tuition and fees for an out-of-state undergraduate student at Virginia Tech are $33,857 a year. After completing their degree, forestry graduates from Virginia Tech carry an average student debtload of $23,438.

With a ranking of #10, Clemson University did quite well on this year’s best value schools for forestry students. Clemson is a fairly large public school located in the suburb of Clemson.
