This report analyzed 70 schools in the United States to see which ones were the most popular master's degree programs for students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from the Library Science program at each school on the list.

The colleges and universities below are the most popular for library science majors pursuing a master's degree.

Our 2023 rankings named San Jose State University the most popular school in the United States for library science students working on their master’s degree. San Jose State is a fairly large public school located in the city of San Jose.

About 82% of the students majoring in library science at the school are women while 18% are male.

Out of the 70 schools in the United States that were part of this year’s ranking, University of North Texas landed the # 2 spot on the list. Located in the midsize city of Denton, UNT is a public college with a very large student population.

About 81% of the students majoring in library science at the school are women while 19% are male.

Boston, MA

Out of the 70 schools in the United States that were part of this year’s ranking, Simmons University landed the # 2 spot on the list. Located in the large city of Boston, Simmons is a private not-for-profit school with a medium-sized student population.

The in-demand master’s degree programs at Texas Woman’s University helped the school earn the #4 place on this year’s ranking of the most popular library science schools in the United States. Located in the medium-sized city of Denton, TWU is a public school with a fairly large student population.

Wayne State University landed the #10 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular master’s degree library science programs. Located in the large city of Detroit, Wayne State is a public college with a very large student population.
