This report analyzed 29 schools in the Great Lakes Region to see which ones were the most popular doctor's degree programs for students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from the Law program at each school on the list.

The colleges and universities below are the most popular for law majors pursuing a doctor's degree.

Our analysis found Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School to be the most popular school for law students who want to pursue a doctor’s degree in the Great Lakes Region . WMU-Cooley Law School is a fairly small private not-for-profit school located in the city of Lansing.

Of the 411 students majoring in law at WMU-Cooley Law School, 39% are male and 61% are female.

Out of the 29 schools in the Great Lakes Region that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Michigan - Ann Arbor landed the # 2 spot on the list. Located in the midsize city of Ann Arbor, U-M is a public college with a very large student population.

Of the 363 students majoring in law at U-M, 49% are male and 51% are female.

Northwestern University

Evanston, IL

The in-demand doctor’s degree programs at Northwestern University helped the school earn the #3 place on this year’s ranking of the most popular law schools in the Great Lakes Region . Located in the small city of Evanston, Northwestern is a private not-for-profit college with a fairly large student population.

Of the 296 students majoring in law at Northwestern, 45% are male and 55% are female.

The in-demand doctor’s degree programs at University of Illinois at Chicago helped the school earn the #4 place on this year’s ranking of the most popular law schools in the Great Lakes Region . UIC is a very large public school located in the city of Chicago.

About 55% of the students majoring in law at the school are women while 45% are male.

Out of the 29 schools in the Great Lakes Region that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Wisconsin - Madison landed the # 5 spot on the list. Located in the city of Madison, UW - Madison is a public school with a fairly large student population.

Of the 268 students majoring in law at UW - Madison, 50% are male and 50% are female.

Indiana University - Purdue University - Indianapolis came in at #6 in this year’s edition of the Most Popular Law Doctor’s Degree Schools in the Great Lakes Region ranking. Located in the large city of Indianapolis, IUPUI is a public college with a very large student population.

Women make up 47% of the law majors at the school.

Loyola University Chicago did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for law students to get a doctor’s degree. It came in at #7 on the list. Located in the city of Chicago, Loyola Chicago is a private not-for-profit school with a fairly large student population.

About 61% of the students majoring in law at the school are women while 39% are male.

With a ranking of #8, Illinois Institute of Technology did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for law students working on their doctor’s degree. Located in the city of Chicago, Illinois Tech is a private not-for-profit college with a medium-sized student population.
