Our 2023 rankings named American Public University System the most popular school in the Southeast Region for history students working on their master’s degree. American Military University is a fairly large private for-profit school located in the town of Charles Town.

Out of the 92 schools in the Southeast Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Liberty University landed the # 2 spot on the list. Liberty University is a fairly large private not-for-profit school located in the city of Lynchburg.
Women make up 47% of the history majors at the school.
A rank of #3 on this year’s list means George Mason University is a great place for history students working on their master’s degree. GMU is a very large public school located in the suburb of Fairfax.
Of the 29 students majoring in history at GMU, 41% are male and 59% are female.
