A rank of #2 on this year’s list means Michigan Technological University is a great place for electrical engineering students. Located in the remote town of Houghton, Michigan Tech is a public school with a moderately-sized student population.

While working on their degree, EE majors at Michigan Tech accumulate an average of around $27,000 in student debt. The average monthly payment of a loan this size is about $404, assuming that the borrower is on a 10-year repayment plan.

East Lansing, MI

Out of the 15 schools in Michigan that were part of this year’s ranking, Michigan State University landed the # 3 spot on the list. Located in the city of East Lansing, Michigan State is a public school with a fairly large student population.

After completing their degree, EE graduates from Michigan State carry an average student debt load of $22,500. This translates to an average monthly loan payment of $362, based on a 10-year repayment plan.
