Out of all the majors we analyze each year, information science was ranked #57 in the country. In fact 18,325 degrees and certificates were handed out in 2020-2021.

This report analyzed 35 schools in the Southeast Region to see which ones were the most popular master's degree programs for students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from the Information Science program at each school on the list.

Tallahassee, FL

Our 2023 rankings named Florida State University the most popular school in the Southeast Region for information science students working on their master’s degree. Located in the medium-sized city of Tallahassee, Florida State is a public school with a very large student population.

Women make up 78% of the IS majors at the school.

A rank of #2 on this year’s list means Strayer University - Virginia is a great place for information science students working on their master’s degree. Strayer University - Virginia is a small private for-profit school located in the city of Arlington.

Nova Southeastern University

Fort Lauderdale, FL

A rank of #3 on this year’s list means Nova Southeastern University is a great place for information science students working on their master’s degree. Located in the large suburb of Fort Lauderdale, NUS Florida is a private not-for-profit college with a fairly large student population.

Of the 45 students majoring in IS at NUS Florida, 64% are male and 36% are female.

Out of the 35 schools in the Southeast Region that were part of this year’s ranking, North Carolina Central University landed the # 4 spot on the list. North Carolina Central University is a medium-sized public school located in the large city of Durham.

Of the 43 students majoring in IS at North Carolina Central University, 47% are male and 53% are female.

Out of the 35 schools in the Southeast Region that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Alabama at Birmingham landed the # 5 spot on the list. Located in the city of Birmingham, UAB is a public college with a very large student population.

Out of the 35 schools in the Southeast Region that were part of this year’s ranking, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill landed the # 5 spot on the list. UNC Chapel Hill is a fairly large public school located in the city of Chapel Hill.

Of the 36 students majoring in IS at UNC Chapel Hill, 39% are male and 61% are female.

Kennesaw State University ranked #7 on this year’s Most Popular Information Science Master’s Degree Schools in the Southeast Region list. KSU Georgia is a fairly large public school located in the suburb of Kennesaw.

University of South Florida - Main Campus landed the #8 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular master’s degree information science programs. USF Tampa is a very large public school located in the city of Tampa.

Of the 20 students majoring in IS at USF Tampa, 55% are male and 45% are female.

Strayer University - Georgia did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for information science students to get a master’s degree. It came in at #9 on the list.
