Out of all the majors we analyze each year, information science was ranked #57 in the country. In fact 18,325 degrees and certificates were handed out in 2020-2021.

Our analysis looked at 66 schools in the Southeast Region to see which bachelor's degree programs were the most popular for students. To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from the Information Science program at each school on the list.

The following schools top our list of the Most Popular Information Science Bachelor's Degree Colleges.

Our analysis found Virginia Commonwealth University to be the most popular school for information science students who want to pursue a bachelor’s degree in the Southeast Region . Located in the medium-sized city of Richmond, VCU is a public school with a very large student population.

About 25% of the students majoring in IS at the school are women while 75% are male.

While working on their Bachelor's Degree, IS majors at VCU accumulate an average of around $25,218 in student debt. Assuming that a graduate chooses a 10-year repayment plan, the average monthly loan payment is $213.

Harrisonburg, VA

A rank of #2 on this year’s list means James Madison University is a great place for information science students working on their bachelor’s degree. JMU is a fairly large public school located in the small city of Harrisonburg.

Of the 168 students majoring in IS at JMU, 82% are male and 18% are female.

On average, IS graduates from JMU take out $21,756 in student loans while working on their Bachelor's Degree. When it comes time to repay the loan, graduates who are on a 10-year repayment plan pay an average monthly payment of $244.

The in-demand bachelor’s degree programs at Georgia Southern University helped the school earn the #3 place on this year’s ranking of the most popular information science schools in the Southeast Region . Located in the town of Statesboro, GaSou is a public college with a fairly large student population.

Of the 154 students majoring in IS at GaSou, 78% are male and 22% are female.

After completing their Bachelor's Degree, IS graduates from GaSou carry an average student debt load of $29,064. This translates to an average monthly loan payment of $119, based on a 10-year repayment plan.

University of Kentucky landed the #7 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular bachelor’s degree information science programs. Located in the city of Lexington, UK is a public college with a very large student population.

Women make up 29% of the IS majors at the school.

After completing their Bachelor's Degree, IS graduates from UK carry an average student debt load of $25,495.
