To create this ranking we looked at how many students graduated from the Computer Science program at each school on the list.

The colleges and universities below are the most popular for compsci majors pursuing a master's degree.

Our 2023 rankings named University of Massachusetts Amherst the most popular school in the New England Region for computer science students working on their master’s degree. UMass Amherst is a very large public school located in the large suburb of Amherst.

Of the 259 students majoring in compsci at UMass Amherst, 75% are male and 25% are female.

Out of the 21 schools in the New England Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Massachusetts Institute of Technology landed the # 2 spot on the list. Located in the midsize city of Cambridge, MIT is a private not-for-profit school with a large student population.

Women make up 40% of the compsci majors at the school.

Boston University

Boston, MA

Out of the 21 schools in the New England Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Boston University landed the # 3 spot on the list. Boston U is a very large private not-for-profit school located in the city of Boston.

Of the 188 students majoring in compsci at Boston U, 79% are male and 21% are female.

Providence, RI

Out of the 21 schools in the New England Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Brown University landed the # 4 spot on the list. Located in the medium-sized city of Providence, Brown is a private not-for-profit college with a large student population.

Of the 95 students majoring in compsci at Brown, 73% are male and 27% are female.

Located in the city of Worcester, WPI is a private not-for-profit school with a moderately-sized student population.

Tufts University did quite well in this year’s ranking of the most popular places for computer science students to get a master’s degree. It came in at #6 on the list. Located in the suburb of Medford, Tufts is a private not-for-profit school with a fairly large student population.

Of the 51 students majoring in compsci at Tufts, 76% are male and 24% are female.

Harvard University landed the #7 spot in the 2023 rankings for the most popular master’s degree computer science programs. Harvard is a very large private not-for-profit school located in the midsize city of Cambridge.

Of the 35 students majoring in compsci at Harvard, 74% are male and 26% are female.

With a ranking of #8, Brandeis University did quite well on this year’s most popular schools for computer science students working on their master’s degree. Brandeis is a medium-sized private not-for-profit school located in the small city of Waltham.

About 33% of the students majoring in compsci at the school are women while 67% are male.
