Administrative Services Credential

Notre Dame de Namur University has long been recognized for the excellence of our programs in education. Presently NDNU offers five credentials, two certificates and seven master’s degrees within the School of Education and Leadership. Many of our alumni are active teachers and administrators in San Mateo County and throughout the Peninsula. Personalized attention and individualized counseling for students, field orientation of programs, and successful placement of credential graduates have characterized the teacher education program since its inception in 1953. The California Commission on Teacher Credentialing has established credential reciprocity with most states. In 1999 the Education Department received the Smithsonian Award for innovation in technology.

NDNU’s Preliminary Administrative Services Credential Program is a unique 24-unit program in that we approach administration from a broad viewpoint in public administration courses and from an experiential base in educational administration practica courses. Twelve units of the credential are taken in leadership, management, finance, and human resources. Four courses (including practica) are required in the educational administration component.

Approved in June 1985, in compliance with Assembly Bill 976, NDNU’s Preliminary Administrative Services Credential authorizes the candidate to serve as a superintendent, associate or deputy superintendent, principal, assistant principal, supervisor, consultant, coordinator, or in an equivalent intermediate-level administrative position.
