Economics

What do economists do? They research the way societies distribute resources to produce goods and services. Economists monitor and analyze employment levels, energy costs, inflation, interest rates, exchange rates, business trends, and taxation. In an economics program, you’ll learn microeconomics, the business events and decisions of individual businesses, and macroeconomics, the study of the whole economy. Other areas economists study are labor economics, public finance, economics of individual industries, public finance, and mathematical techniques for analyzing economic relationships.

About half of all economists work for government agencies. Others work for consulting firms and private businesses, especially those with international business operations.

But studying economics isn’t just for economists. Every professional in business or government should have an understanding of economic principles.
